A HEREFORDSHIRE woman who was devoted her life to helping others in her local community has been recognised at a special service in her home village.
Sally Robertson, from Burghill has been presented with the British Empire Medal by Herefordshire Lord Lieutenant, Mr Edward Harley, on behalf of the Queen for her services to the community of Burghill and Lyde.
As well as her 12-year stint with Herefordshire Council, Mrs Robertson also spent time serving her local parish council.
She was also heavily involved with a number of other community projects, including a project to bring a new sports pavilion to the village.

She also helps with the Burghill community library, Burghill in Bloom and in the production of local parish magazines.
Coun John Stone, who was present at the ceremony said of Mrs Robertson's award: "Sally accepted the medal on behalf of her family, friends and residents and expressed her gratitude for their support, love and belief in her.
"She also paid tribute to her late husband, Ian, who had supported her over the years and who was also involved in the nomination process."
Mrs Robertson said: "Anything I can do to bring people together, improve their lives and generate happiness gives me great satisfaction.
"Going forward, I will continue to work hard for our community and others, particularly to help repair the damage the pandemic has had on our society"
