BEACONS will be lit across Herefordshire over the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend in honour of the her 70-year reign.
In 1897, beacons were lit to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
In 1977, 2002 and 2012, beacons also commemorated the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees of our present Queen, and in 2016 her 90th birthday.
On June 2, more than 2,022 beacons will be lit throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of the Queen’s long and selfless service.
All beacons will be lit on Thursday, June 2, at 9.45pm.
