A HEREFORD museum has been recognised for its work as it is named on the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The Waterworks Museum at Broomy Hill, in Hereford, has been awarded The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, which aims to recognise outstanding work by local volunteer groups to benefit their communities.

This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

The Waterworks Museum was opened in 1974 and is one of Herefordshire's leading visitor attractions.
