Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to help the 16-hand thoroughbred horse which had been startled and fallen into the brook in Lower Bullingham.
Crews from Hereford and Bromyard fire stations went to the scene, including animal rescue specialists, to pull the horse free – after it was sedated.
The animal rescue team, based in Bromyard, said Rio, the 16-hand thoroughbred, was cared for by Belmont Farm and Equine Vets as it got a rescue plan together.
A telehandler was found to lift Rio out of the ditch and take her to a place of safety after the incident at 8.04am on Monday (June 6).
Pictures taken by firefighters at the scene show how strops and a harness were put around Rio so she could be lifted out.
After Rio was lifted out of the brook, she was put on a large guild board which crews could pull to her stable.
After a short time, crews said she was able to stand and vets could carry out a full health inspection.
