A CAR park in a Herefordshire town centre is closed for the general public for more than a week from today (Wednesday), the local council has said.
The entire car park will be resurfaced and relined, and as such, contractors have said it will take up to 13 days to do the work.
Bromyard and Winslow Town Council said the Rowberry Street car park, which it owns, would be closed to permit holders from Monday (June 27) and all cars would need to be removed from that section by 6am.
The main section of the car park, for pay and display for the general public, then closed from 6am on Wednesday (June 29), the council said.
The council said the work involves the removal of the old surface and the installation of a new surface to include line painting in both the reserved and main car park.
Drainage will also be installed for the part of the car park reserved for season ticket holders.
"These works will provide us with a significantly stronger surface and clear lining once completed, but I'm afraid, as with all works of this nature, there is going to be an amount of disruption for a short period of time," town clerk Karen Mitchell said in a letter to permit holders.
The Tenbury Road car park, also owned by the town council, will remain open.
Pedestrian access to The Old Vicarage offices and Heritage Centre will be maintained, the council said.
But there will be noise and vibration from the works so it apologised to those affected.
The car park is set to be closed until Saturday, July 9.
