Prosecutor Mark Hambling said it was a complex matter that was not suitable to be dealt with by the magistrates court and asked that the case be sent to the crown court.
Chris Read, for Bowyer, said he agreed the case was outside the remit of the magistrates and that it should be heard by the crown court.
The case was sent to Worcester Crown Court, where Bowyer, who is of Firs Lane, Bromyard, will appear on August 24.
