POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a fatal crash on a Herefordshire road.
Officers were called to the scene of the crash at 9.45pm on Thursday August 11 on the westbound A40 between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, near to the village of Ganarew.
The road was closed between Whitchurch and Monmouth due to the accident.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "When ambulance crews arrived they found a motorcyclist, a man, in a critical condition. Police officers were already on scene providing CPR to the man.

"When ambulance crews commenced emergency treatment, it sadly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased a short time later."
Police inspector Darren Godsall said the 26 year old man from Rhos-on-Sea was riding a motorbike along this stretch of the A40 when the collision happened.
He said: "We believe a tractor towing a trailer of bales may have been involved.
"Our thoughts are with the man's family at this incredibly difficult time."
