A HEREFORDSHIRE society is celebrating a quarter of a century with a special event.

The Leominster Vintage Club is 25 years old this year and is holding its 16th annual working weekend to mark the occasion.

This years' working weekend sees the return of the ploughing match that proved successful last year on Saturday, September 10 and the Welsh axe men are on display the following day.

There will be a cultivating working field on show where people can see up to 40 tractors working at any one time.

New attractions for this year include the West Midlands Lawn Mower Racing Association hosting a two day race weekend, a gun dog display and falconry display in the main ring on Sunday.

Also on show will be static cars, commercial vehicles, stationary engines, motorbikes and caravans.

A spokesperson for the event said: "We’ve had a fantastic response to this years' working weekend and a record number of exhibiting entries.

"We have been overwhelmed by the support and we are excited to be gearing up for what we’re hoping to be our best ever show to celebrate our 25th anniversary milestone."
