The nation entered a period of national mourning today after it was confirmed the Queen had sadly died, aged 96.
The tragic news was confirmed on Thursday evening after members of the royal family travelled to Balmoral, where the Queen was laying in rest.
Full national mourning guidance has been issued to sports, businesses and shops following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
The guidance from the Cabinet Office was published Friday morning.
Floral tributes in Hereford as Queen's death mourned
Whether or not something closes following the death of the monarch is being left to individual institutions, though the guidance does suggest the country could experience a shutdown on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
The Government is set to leave it up to organisations whether to suspend their business during the period of national mourning.
The Premier League and English Football League are among the sports matches to be called off this weekend.
Schools across the UK are set to remain open following the Queen’s death after the Department for Education issued guidance.
