A bank in a landmark building in the middle of Hereford is to get a refresh.
Lloyds Bank in High Town occupies an imposing three-storey classical building dating from 1920s. Being grade II-listed, prior permission must be given to make changes to its interior.
A planning application by the bank “seeks to enhance the overall appearance of the banking hall whilst updating the Lloyds Bank brand presence”.
It wants to remove two out of the six internal ATMs (cashpoints) and two out of five cashiers’ counters, as well as a welcome desk, leaflet dispensers and window marketing units in the hall, and to replace a safe.
It will introduce a display unit for notices to the window by the main entrance, a new digital welcome screen, wall decorations and new flooring.
The bank says this is in line with its new marketing strategy to reduce paper waste and improve sustainability.

It also intends to upgrade security to the rear of the building and roof, by installing stronger external doors to the rear courtyard and roof, and new window bars to the rear windows.
“The proposed works are limited to the building interior and rear exterior of the building and will not have a negative impact on the building façade or banking hall in any way,” the bank says.
Comments on the planning application, numbered 222635, can be made until October 13.
