A HEREFORDSHIRE school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors for its "safe" and "thriving" atmosphere.

Llangrove CE Academy, near Ross-on-Wye, received an overall rating of 'good' when inspectors visited in June.

It was rated in five categories, with inspectors finding it to be good in the quality of education, leadership, management, behaviours, and early years.

Inspectors said pupils feel safe, enjoy life at school and thrive.

The school is very much part of the local community, while parents and carers share their children's enthusiasm for the education provided.

The report said leaders have high expectations for staff and pupils alike.

Pupils also enjoy studying a wide range of subjects and have positive attitudes towards their work, said Ofsted.

Staff help them to develop curiosity and independence, while pupils also learn to work together.

The report also said pupils have good opportunities to take responsibility, for example as councillors or in reading to younger classes. Bullying is uncommon, and staff resolve any disagreements quickly.
