A RECENTLY opened Herefordshire café has withdrawn its plans to change its exterior.

Coffee#1 opened a new café in Ross-on-Wye’s Market Place in July and the outside of its building is currently painted green and has a white sign.

A planning application submitted to Herefordshire Council in August showed the café wants to make changes.

It applied for external alterations and consent to display an advertisement.

This included three hanging signs on different areas of the building.

RELATED NEWS:

Another sign would have wrapped around the three-storey building which would have warm white LEDs behind it to create a halo illumination.

Alterations to the building would have included a replacement to the existing framed double doors with double glazed sapele double doors, that would also have received a new Dulux paint finish.

The application also asked for a new half-moon double glazed panel with etched vinyl lettering.

New double-glazed windows and more touches such as paint work to match Coffee#1 décor were also applied for.

OTHER NEWS:

The advertisement consent and planning permission applications have now both been withdrawn.

Ross-on-Wye Town Council said in a comment on the application that it objects to the application as it does not meet the requirements of Ross-on-Wye Neighbourhood Development Plan.

One of its policies says shopfronts, signs and advertisements requiring planning permission must respect local character and should make a positive contribution to their surroundings.
