PART of a children’s play area has been destroyed by fire in a “malicious” attack.
Ledbury Town Council said it is extremely saddened to learn that one of the picnic benches in the children’s play area was destroyed by a fire last weekend.
“This was a malicious and unnecessary attack on facilities that are provided for the Ledbury community,” said a spokesperson.
This was a new multi-coloured picnic bench only installed last year for the benefit of children and families who use the play area.

“We are currently reviewing CCTV coverage and any images will be shared with the police,” said the spokesperson.
The town council is investing funds into the play area as well as the skatepark.
It has commissioned a company to undertake major repairs and replace some of the ramps with different arrangements so that the skatepark can be enjoyed not only by skateboarders, but also those with scooters and bicycles.

“It is a great pity that the minority wish to spoil the area and facilities for the majority within Ledbury,” said the spokesperson.
If anyone has information about the fire the town council is asking them share this with the police.
