THE finalists in this year’s Hereford Times Health & Social Care Awards have been revealed, with women dominating the list of contenders.
Of the 10 award categories, three – Care Hero, Carer in the Home and Private Healthcare Staff Member of the Year – feature all-female line-ups.
The winners, including the recipient of the overall Outstanding Achievement Award, will be unveiled during the University of Worcester-backed event at the Three Counties Hotel, Hereford, next Wednesday.
The Wye Clinic supplies all three finalists in the Private Healthcare Staff Member of the Year category, namely Lynne Dunn, Sarah Gwilim and Rachael Lloyd.
The first of the three is also up for the Excellence in Nursing Award alongside Hampton Grange and Gwen Walford Nursing Home’s Oana Gidofalvi and Abdul Khalil Aziz Khan of the Wye Valley NHS Trust.
Kemble at Home triumvirate Frances McDougall, Emma Andrews and Paula Williams will fight it out with Chlorinda Lane (Katherine Harriet Bespoke Home Care) and Linda Jones (Services for Independent Living) for the Carer in the Home gong.
Katherine Harriet and Services for Independent Living are also represented by Leeann Probert and Agnieszka Simpkin in the Care Hero Award category, as well as Hereford County Hospital’s Gemma Boland.
Meanwhile, the GP Practice of the Year title sees a repeat of last year’s three-way battle between holders Kington Medical Practice, Staunton-on-Wye Surgery and Cantilupe Surgery.
And in the only category with four finalists, Kemble at Home, Services for Independent Living, Sophie House and The Wye Clinic compete for the Best Place to Work Award.
