A SIGN to Hereford has left people “confused” over which way to go as it appears to send drivers the wrong way.
We Grew Up in Hereford member Brian Tipton shared a photo of the sign found on the B4224, between Mordiford and Fownhope, just before the turning to Holme Lacy on the B4399.
But it is facing outbound of Hereford.
“No wonder tourists get confused in this county,” said Mr Tipton.

“Taking this photo Hereford is four miles behind me and the sign is pointing in totally the opposite direction towards Fownhope and Upton Bishop.”
Member John Price joked: “I get confused, and I live here.”
But the sign is a diversion for lorries over 7.5 tonnes, informing them that they need to use a different route to cars as the road is not suitable for them.
Nick Prince said many years ago when he was travelling from Abergavenny to Hereford, there were two signs half a mile apart.

The first one said 18 miles to Hereford, while the next one half a mile closer to Hereford said 18.5 miles.
Vicky Jane said these signs are still there.
This sign is also there as an alternative route for large vehicles which would be too tall to come under the railway bridge between Llangua and Pontrillas.
