A HEREFORDSHIRE hotel has won a hard-earned award for its exceptional country house and views of the county.
Glewstone Court, in Ross-on-Wye, has won an AA Red star award which is used to recognise hotel that stand out as the best regardless of size or style.
Rather than applying for the awards, candidates are nominated by the AA Inspector, who has a wealth of experience when it comes to recognising top-class hospitality, said a spokesperson from AA.
Hotels are awarded two to five AA Red Stars. Glewstone has won three.

Those chosen are said to offer excellent levels of quality, and outstanding levels of hospitality and service throughout.
Glewstone Court is the only Herefordshire hotel on the list to have been selected for this prestigious award.
The grade-II listed manor house turned hotel nestled into the Herefordshire countryside and set in an area of outstanding natural beauty overlooking the Brecon Beacons.
It still retains its Georgian and regency features dating back to the 19th century, including a spiral staircase rising from the entrance hall to a porticoed landing, and a 350-year-old Cedar of Lebanon framing the driveway to landscaped gardens.

Nine rooms are available with its restaurant downstairs, which has two Rosette awards.
This hard-earned accolade is a reliable sign that the hotel is not just great, but exceptional, said AA.
The AA inspector said: "Well-run country house with views over Ross-on-Wye."
Owner of Glewstone Gary Homewood said the hotel's journey over the last eight years since has certainly not been without its challenges, but he believes his team has demonstrated an unfaltering determination to deliver a unique customer experience to guests.
"As a family run business, we drew from our own experiences as well as listening to, and acting upon, guest feedback striving tenaciously to improve every aspect of our operation to create a unique 'home-from-home' in this quiet corner of Herefordshire where our guests could escape and truly relax," he said.
"We are very honoured to receive the AA's supreme accolade, a much-coveted award.
"We are overwhelmed and very grateful.
"Ultimately it is a reflection of the huge effort and passion to deliver differentiated and outstanding customer service by our operations director Sam Nicholls, events manager Amy Nicholls and the entire team at Glewstone Court of whom we are extremely proud."
