POLICE have said the van driver killed in a crash on a Herefordshire main road was an 83-year-old man.
In an appeal for witnesses of the crash on the A44 to come forward police said at around 10.30am yesterday (November 1) three vehicles crashed between Pembridge and Lower Burton, at the junction with the road in Eardisland.
Police, the fire service, and paramedics were called to the scene.

The driver of a Ford Transit, an 83-year-old man, died at the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews discovered the driver of the van in a critical condition.
“Crews immediately began administering advanced life support to him.
“Unfortunately, despite their best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save him, and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.
“The driver of the lorry was assessed and did not require treatment.”

No other injuries were reported, said a West Mercia Police spokesperson.
The A44 is a major road through the county, connecting Leominster, Kington, and Bromyard.
