A BUSINESS boss has said he is thrilled after being given the green light to build a brand new care home in Herefordshire.

Rotherwood Group was granted planning permission for a purpose-built luxury care home in Colwall, near Ledbury.

Nestled on the western side of the Malvern Hills, on the border of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, the build will be located in Primeswell Close, off Walwyn Road, on a brownfield site.

OTHER NEWS:

The home will have 60 residential and nursing beds to support the demand for care in the region with its ageing population, while creating around 50 jobs, the company said.

Work on the build, which the firm said will be state-of-the-art when it opens, is due to start by early 2023 with the view to opening in spring 2024.

John Fennell, chief executive of the award-winning Rotherwood, which has homes across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, said: “We are thrilled to reveal plans for this luxury care home in Colwall.

"This will be our ninth care home in the group and will broaden our long-term impact enriching the lives of older people across the West Midlands.”

OTHER NEWS:

Kristian Lawrence, the architect from Lawrence and Finley Architects who designed the home, said: “From the outset, Rotherwood’s brief was to design a care home which would enhance the lives of residents living within, while also respecting the surrounding area and retaining the views of the Malvern Hills.

"The home will house top-class amenities including an at-home bar and cinema room and maximise views of the open countryside. We look forward to seeing the build progress”.
