THE businessman who founded a Herefordshire restaurant more than 30 years ago has died, his staff have said.
Julian Whitmarsh co-founded Jules Restaurant, in Portland Street, Weobley, with his wife Juliet in 1985.
His team said he died peacefully at home on November 3.
Mr Whitmarsh had retired from day-to-day operations several years ago, but he remained part of the day-to-day life of the restaurant providing advice and the occasional dish, said his team.

"We would like to thank everyone on behalf of Juliet, family and staff for their very kind messages of support," said the spokesperson.
"Funeral arrangements will be published shortly.
"Meanwhile, service at the restaurant continues as normal, which we know is exactly what he would have wanted.
"We look forward to welcoming our customers, old and new."

After taking the restaurant on, the couple created a warm, friendly atmosphere for everyone to enjoy and to provide interesting and consistently good food using, wherever possible, the finest locally sourced ingredients and serving it up in its own individual style.
Mr Whitmarsh kept the kitchen supplied with a constant flow of soups, pates, terrines and casseroles, prepared and flavoured with the accuracy which has always characterised his signature dishes.
