The winner of the search for the Hereford Times Best Pub 2022 has been revealed.
It is the Bells Inn at Almeley, near Kington, and its landlord and landlady are delighted!
Lisa Hudson, who has run the traditional local with her husband Jason for 15 years, said: "I knew we were up against some good pubs. We were hoping we were going to win, but it is fantastic news that we have."
One the fans who nominated the pub told us it was "traditional and cosy, with a lovely selection of real ales, great food and everything at reasonable prices. A true country pub and shop with great landlords."
Runners up
Runners-up were the Oxford Arms in Widemarsh Street, Hereford, and the Harp Inn at Old Radnor, near Kington.
A fan who nominated the Oxford Arms said: "Great pub. Lovely staff, fantastic food, the best Sunday lunch ever. And a brilliant atmosphere. The recently completed outdoor space is absolutely amazing."
Someone who enjoys the Harp Inn said: "This is a beautiful old building set high above the Radnor Valley. It has wonderful views, a warm welcome and very good food. Plus dogs are welcome and there is always someone interesting to chat to."
The three came tops of an incredibly competitive field of candidates.
We had asked readers to nominate the pubs their most admired. We then narrowed our search down to the 10 most-nominated and asked readers to vote for their favourite.
Our Best Pub search, which is now in its second year, is part of our ongoing efforts at the Hereford Times to support businesses, particularly in the hospitality sector, through extremely tough trading conditions.
At the weekend we'll have more on our winning pubs, and what people said about them.
