The court heard the 38-year-old had been caught in possession of a quantity of class B controlled drug cannabis in Hereford on October 7.
Brown, who is of Brampton Road in Hereford, was handed a 12-month community order and must complete 60 hours of unpaid work, with magistrates at Hereford's Justice Centre in Bath Street saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when imposing the sentence.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £185, while the cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
