A HEREFORD drink-driver has been banned from the roads after he was caught failing to comply with a red light.

Harry Boswell entered guilty pleas to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit and one count of failing to comply with a traffic light signal when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in October.

The court heard from prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the 25-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf while over the drink-driving limit in Hereford on October 9.

An evidential breath test taken by police revealed he had 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He had also failed to comply with a red traffic light in Hereford's Commercial road on the same date, the court was told.

Boswell, who is of Common View, Hereford, was fined £300 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 20 months. He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £120 victim surcharge.
