A POPULAR Herefordshire country show has been cancelled next year because its bosses can't see how they can cope with rising costs.
The ongoing cost-of-living crisis is affecting people and businesses across the UK, with the Bromyard Gala no exception.
The two-day steam rally and country show, held annually on the last weekend of June at Avebury, near Bromyard, will not go ahead in 2023 due to higher costs of fuel, contractors, materials and equipment.

Health and safety requirements have also been a factor in the decision, directors said.
They said they carried out an in-depth evaluation of the 2022 gala, which took place in June.
This year's event enjoyed good weather and a fine turnout of both visitors and exhibitors who all thoroughly enjoyed the two-day event, the directors said.

But despite that, increases in infrastructure costs forced them into cancelled the 2023 event.
"These comprise of increases in fuel, contractors, materials and equipment costs, plus the ongoing health and safety requirements that are part of organising a large event like the gala," directors added.

"This has been a very tough decision. The difficulty in forecasting both revenue and costs for a 2023 gala would be financially challenging considering the difficult year that lies ahead for us all.
"It is therefore, with much regret, that it has been decided to postpone the 2023 Gala.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support this year and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2024."
