The court heard from Crown Prosecution Service prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the 67-year-old defendant is accused of, without reasonable excuse, sending an email on August 19, 2021 to a woman who he was prohibited from contacting by a restraining order imposed by magistrates in Hereford on an earlier date.
He is also accused of committing a second offence by sending another email to the same woman, in breach of his restraining order, on December 25, 2021.
Powell, of Cross Keys, Herefordshire, was granted conditional bail ahead of his next hearing and will appear before magistrates at Hereford Justice Centre in Bath Street for trial on February 9.
