AN ATTACKER has been jailed after smashing windows at an iconic Hereford building.
Marc Smith appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster for sentencing in December after entering guilty pleas to one count of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and one count of common assault at an earlier hearing.
The court heard from the prosecutor that the 34-year-old had intentionally or recklessly, and without lawful excuse, damaged four windows at Hereford Town Hall on October 31.
The damage left the town hall with a £1,000 repair bill, the court heard.

He had also assaulted a man in Hereford on the same date, the magistrates were told.
Magistrates said the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified, and that they were aggravated by his record of offending.
Smith, who is of no fixed address, was ordered to pay compensation of £1,000 and was jailed for six weeks.
No order for prosecution costs was made due to his lack of means.
