A FIRST-TIME mum was stunned when she gave birth to a baby boy after multiple scans confirmed she was expecting a girl.
Leanne Grady, 22, got the ''shock of her life'' after finding out the true sex of her baby just weeks before giving birth in Worcestershire.
Leanne and family members had already spent £200 in the lead-up to Leanne giving birth.
The expectant mum had been so excited to find out the gender that she had paid for a £60 private scan at 17 weeks.
She even popped a pink confetti cannon at her gender reveal party and was over the moon to find out that she was expecting a baby girl.
Her partner, Matt Nethacott, 25, a store assistant in a supermarket, had been hoping for a daughter and the couple immediately started making plans for their new arrival.
Three weeks later, at their routine 20-week scan, it was confirmed again that they were having a little girl.
The couple quickly decided on the name Amelia, and kitted out her nursery with personalised clothing, pink baby grows and adorable little dresses.
However, the parents-to-be, got a big surprise when a 34-week growth scan revealed there had been a mistake... and they were actually expecting a boy.
Miss Grady, who lives in Worcestershire, said "I spent my whole pregnancy preparing to have a daughter.
"We'd named her and bought loads of pink baby grows and cute personalised things for her nursery.
"Luckily, most of the big items like the cot and wardrobes were neutral colours, but it was the emotional side of things that was most difficult to handle.
"But our little boy is perfect and I can't imagine it being any other way now."
Leanne gave birth to her son, Noah William Nethacott, on August 17, 2022, at 1.01pm, weighing 6lbs 9oz, at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
"Having Noah is the best thing to ever happen to us, and I really can't imagine him being any other way now.
"It definitely was a shock, but it's part of our story and it's worth it to have our beautiful son now.
“Noah is such a good baby, we’ve been so lucky. He’s amazing and so smiley.
“Luckily, he hasn’t had to wear any pink clothes, but we’ve kept them in case he has a sister one day.
“We couldn’t return anything because we’d cut out the tags and washed everything, but we’ve kept them to give to friends.
“We were given neutral-coloured baby clothes from friends before I gave birth, so we didn’t struggle too much – but it was quite nice to have another excuse to go out shopping.”
