A NEW manager at a Hereford pub says he wants to open for the lonely and vulnerable this Christmas because “no one deserves to be alone”.
Tom Williams, 31, will be opening Hogarths in Commercial Road on Christmas Day and offering free mulled wine and mince pies.
“For many it is the loneliest time of the year with only a TV for company,” he said. “It can be gutting for people.”

Mr Williams, who is from a farming background, said he wants to bring in the Christmas spirit to the pub.
Anyone who would otherwise be alone, struggling financially, or feeling vulnerable can seek company in the pub.
He hopes this will give people a place to go rather than feeling “sad” and “alone”, he said. “Everyone is welcome.

The pub has had good support so far from customers and he anticipates several people will be turning up on Christmas Day.
It will be open from 10am until the early hours of Boxing Day.
