A BMW driver has been banned from the roads after she was caught drink-driving in a busy Hereford street.

Tammy Macmillan entered a guilty plea to one count of driving a motor vehicle while over the alcohol limit when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford in December.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 47-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a BMW 1 Series in Hereford's College Road while over the drink-driving limit on November 26.

An evidential breath test revealed that she had 48 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal driving limit of 35 microgrammes.

OTHER NEWS:

Macmillan, who is of Wessington Drive in Hereford, was fined £116 and disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 12 months for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken her guilty plea into account when imposing the penalty.

She was granted the opportunity to carry out a drink-driving rehabilitation course, which will reduce her ban by three months if successfully completed.

She must also pay prosecution costs of £75 and a £46 victim surcharge.
