ARE we experiencing an epidemic of poor workmanship?
The quality of the finish on the St Owen Street “upgrade” is embarrassing, particularly the paintwork (yellow lines painted over the cycling symbols?).

Botched jobs that require repairing a few months later appears to be the norm now. But what’s the cause?
Undertraining, disinterested management and a zero pride ethos? Pay cannot be blamed as some of the neatest and efficient work is done by volunteers.
Regardless of whether a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing well.

The solution? To me it’s using small local contractors who are passionate about making our county the best it can be.
