A NEW Hereford restaurant has proven a hit with customers in its first year after opening in the former home of Pizza Express near the cathedral.

La'De Kitchen took over the old Hereford Post Office building in Broad Street in 2022, opening its doors to customers in May 2022.

The building had been unused since March 2022, when the coronavirus lockdown shut restaurants across Britain.

Pizza Express never reopened its Hereford branch.

Family-owned La'De Kitchen promised to bring an exciting new offering to the city, with a menu full of Turkish delicacies made using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.

And it has definitely hit the right notes with customers, receiving an overall rating of 4.5 out of five on reviews website Tripadvisor.

With 38 reviews overall so far, the restaurant has received 31 'excellent' reviews, and three 'very good' reviews.

"A fabulous find," wrote WanderingIslander in Kimbolton in November, saying they would "wholeheartedly recommend" the restaurant.

"The staff were all extremely friendly and professional, and it was really great that the owner (and chef) came out and introduced himself. We had an lovely open chat about the food and his plans for the place. The whole establishment is spotlessly clean and very modern.

"We will absolutely be back for a full meal with friends in the near future. One of the best lunches we have had lately."

Rural-traveller, from Hereford, praised the "amazing food and friendly staff", also in November.

"The restaurant is spotlessly clean and modern and we loved the fact that the boss came out for a chat," they said.

"The waiting staff were on the ball and friendly. Apparently there had been a change of management in the last month and I’m sure that this place will be a great success."

And hjmarchant, of Presteigne, said they had paid the restaurant their first visit in November, but that it definitely would not be their last.

"Went here for lunch after a last-minute change of plan, and so glad we did," they said.

"Food was really good, everything was fresh, delicious and plentiful. The only problem was choosing from the tempting menu. Service was attentive and professional without being intrusive. We'll definitely be booking to go back."
