A NEW business has launched at a pub near Ross-on-Wye and it offers customers a chance a taste of the great outdoors.

As boys, Robin Fletcher and Leon Meek grew up with the Wye Valley as their playground, and have now set up the new firm so others can share the beauty of the river and their love of fun outdoor activities.

YOFI PaddleSports, based at Ye Old Ferrie Inn in Symonds Yat, is the place to go if you want to explore the waters of the Wye.

Customers will be able to stand up on a paddleboard or sit down in a canoe.

“Growing up in Symonds Yat, much of my childhood was spent in or on the banks of the Wye and over the years I have spent most of my adult professional life as a rowing coach and personal time as a rower and open water swimmer in this river," Mr Fletcher said.

Mr Meek added: “I have lived in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley for all of my life and despite the time spent travelling other countries, it never ceases to amaze me the beauty we have on our doorstep.

Most people's experience of paddleboarding has been in the sea on holiday, we are encouraging people to give it a go on the calmer, gentler waters of the Wye.
