ANOTHER weather warning for rain has been issued on the Herefordshire border as more wet weather is set to hit.

The Met Office previously issued a yellow weather warning for Wales for today (January 10).

The warning for today, which is of concern for Herefordshire as it covers much of the course of the Wye before it enters the county, came into force at 6am and will remain in force until 8pm.

But now forecasters at the Met Office have issued another yellow warning for rain, which covers much of Wales and western parts of Herefordshire including Kington, for Wednesday and Thursday.

The Met Office warning is set to come into force at 9pm on January 11 and remain in force until 5pm on January 12, with the service warning that persistent heavy rain will affect parts of southwest England and Wales through Wednesday night and Thursday.

The Met Office said a spell of persistent rain will begin on Wednesday evening, spreading east across parts of England and Wales through Thursday.

The rain is forecast to be heavy at times, particularly in higher areas, with around 15-30 mm falling widely, but peaks of 60-80 mm could build up over higher ground.

The rain will be accompanied by very strong winds, with gusts of 45 mph inland and 60 mph in coastal areas and on high ground, particularly on Wednesday night.
