A HEREFORDSHIRE man has been jailed for spitting on a police officer and a paramedic in an incident in a county town.
Alex Bryson entered guilty pleas to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January.
The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 43-year-old had assaulted an emergency worker, namely a police officer, who was acting in the course of their duties, by beating in Leominster on October 15.

He had also assaulted a second emergency worker, namely a paramedic, who was also acting in the course of their duties, by beating in Leominster on the same date, the court was told.
Magistrates said they had taken his guilty pleas into account, but that the offences were so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified, as Bryson had intentionally spat on two emergency workers who were acting in his best interests and in the course of their duties.
Bryson, who is of High Street, Leominster, was jailed for a total of eight weeks.
