AN ACCUSED Hereford man has been sent for trial after denying a public order offence.

Peter Dillon appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January accused of two charges.

He admitted one count of causing criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 and denied one count of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 50-year-old had, without lawful excuse, and intending to destroy or damage it or being reckless as to whether it was damaged or destroyed, damaged a chair belonging to West Mercia Police in Hereford on December 30.

He is accused of having used threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Hereford on December 28.

The case was sent for trial and Dillon, who is of Golden Post, Hereford, was released on conditional bail.

He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for trial on March 30.
