CLASS A drugs have been ordered to be destroyed after they were found in the possession of a Herefordshire man.

Andrew James entered a guilty plea to one count of possessing a controlled class A drug when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in January.

The court heard from Crown Prosecution Service prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the 39-year-old had been caught in possession of controlled class A drug cocaine in Hereford on February 10.

He was found to have 2.71 grams of the illegal drug, the court heard.

OTHER NEWS:

James, who is of Pyefinch Meadow in Burghill, Herefordshire, was fined £80 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea to the charge into account when deciding on the penalty.

The cocaine was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

No order for prosecution costs was made as costs have already been imposed on linked matters dealt with at a previous hearing.
