A RESIDENT at a Herefordshire care home has just celebrated her 100th birthday.

Irene (Renee) Ogilvy Causley, a resident of Leominster Bupa Care Home, had the Royal British Legion present her with a Veterans’ Pin and Defence and War medals for her service during World War Two.

She celebrated her special day with two of her children, June and Peter, while her third son, Tony, joined them remotely from Sydney, Australia.

The day was topped off with a party and homemade cake which had been prepared and organised by her carers and friends at Leominster.

When asked how it felt to be turning 100, Renee said: “I had a wonderful day celebrating my birthday.

"I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the day with all my children and I was over the moon to have seen Tony, even if it was virtually.

"I have had a very eventful life, so I was completely overwhelmed when my medals were presented to me, as it brought back so many wonderful memories from my past.”
