AN ACCUSED man has been sent for trial after denying causing actual bodily harm to a woman in an incident in Hereford.

Joseph Holland admitted one count of making threats to kill, one of sending a letter, communication, or article conveying a threatening message, and one of criminal damage when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster in February.

He also denied one count of assaulting a person occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of failing to provide a specimen for analysis at the same hearing.

The court heard from prosecutor Melanie Winterflood that the 37-year-old had, without lawful excuse, made a threat to kill another person to a woman, and had made a telephone call which conveyed a threat for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety in Hereford on February 18 He had also caused £450 worth of damage to a Hyundai belonging to a woman in Hereford on the same date, the court heard.

Holland is accused of assaulting another woman, causing her actual bodily harm, and, when suspected of having driven a vehicle, failing to provide a sample of breath for analysis during the course of an investigation into whether he had committed an offence in Hereford on February 18.

The case was sent for trial and Holland, of Vernon Williams Close, Hereford, was released on conditional bail.

He will appear before magistrates in Hereford for trial on April 17.
