The Horse & Groom in Eign Street has remained closed after its previous landlords decided to surrender the licence.
However, Simon Gunning wants to take on the premises and has submitted a licence application to Herefordshire Council.

He says that the long established pub has been closed for a few months but is ready to be reopened. The application is for the sale of alcohol to be drunk both on and off the premises, as well as live and recorded music, hot food and hot drinks.
If approved, the pub would be open from 10am to midnight seven days a week, with late night refreshments being supplied during the last hour on Fridays and Saturdays.
On Bank Holidays, as well as Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the closing time would be 1am. The consultation period ends on April 6.
