A HEREFORD drug-driver has told a court that drugs found in his car did not belong to him.

Krzysztof Malinowski admitted three counts of possessing a controlled class B drug and one count of drug-driving when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in March.

The court heard from prosecutor Eleanor Peart that the drugs had been found in Malinowski's car during a police search on October 26.

They had discovered a pink tablet and a white tablet which were found to be amphetamine, two pots and a bag containing herbal cannabis, and two pink and orange tablets which were revealed to be ketamine in the car, the court heard.

Chris Read, for Malinowski, said they were small amounts of the drugs that had been found in the 30-year-old's car.

"He accepts that he was in possession because those items were in his car, and he knew they were there, but he tells me they were not his," Mr Read said.

"The tablets had come from a time when his parents' house was being cleared out and things had been put in his car. The cannabis had been left behind by a friend, but he knew they were there and had the opportunity to dispose of them but did not."

The drug-driving matter was adjourned to be dealt with at a later date as a pending appeal at the crown court will determine the length of disqualification.

Malinowski, of Newtown Road, Hereford, was handed an interim driving ban and fined £266. He was also ordered to pay a £106 victim surcharge.
