A MAJOR road in Herefordshire will be closed over a five-day spell next month as work is carried out.
Herefordshire Council said the A4103, the main Hereford to Worcester road, would be closed overnight from May 1 to May 5 with a 35-mile diversion.
It will be closed for surfacing, anti-skid and lining works near Cradley, near the Worcestershire border.

In a public notice, the council said that the closure would be from the property Follys Orchard and then eastwards for around 550 metres at Ridgeway Cross.
A public notice said the diversion from the closure point would be the A4103 to Newtown Cross, A417 to Burley Gate, A465 to Bromyard, the A44 to Worcester and then back onto the A4103 towards Cradley.

The same route would apply in reverse, Herefordshire Council said, with the diversion from one side of the closure to the other around 35 miles.
The public notice said the closure would be required due to the work and the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place.
The work should be completed within the four nights from May 1, it said.
