A HEREFORD man has been up before a court after he was caught in charge of a car while more than twice the limit.

Dmytro Khrestin entered a guilty plea to one count of being in charge of a vehicle while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in April.

The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that the 39-year-old had been caught out in charge of a car in Hereford's Windermere Road while over the limit on February 17.

An evidential breath test revealed that Khrestin, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor George Cousins, had 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Khrestin, of Derwent Drive in Hereford, was fined £120 and received 10 penalty points for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken his guilty plea into account when deciding on the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £48 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
