A BID will be made for funds to improve life for disabled passengers using Ledbury railway station.

The northbound platform presents problems for people with disabilities and Ledbury town council wants to do something about it.

So the council has decided to bid for funds from Herefordshire Council to be able to undertake a feasibility study into how to make it easier for passengers to use the platform, according to minutes from a recent meeting.

Trains run from Ledbury to Hereford and Birmingham as well as limited services to London Paddington operated by Great Western.

The council also plans to bid for a feasibility study into the possibility of extending the community centre in the town with the option of adding a second story.

At present, the community hall has three rooms and can take up to 240 people standing.

The third feasibility funding bid will be for a conversion of the present town council offices in Church Street, so that it could accommodate the Tourist Information Centre.

At present the Tourist Information Centre is at 3 Homend.
