A HEREFORD street often hit by flooding will be coming together as a community to celebrate the coronation.
Greyfriars Avenue flood warden Colin Taylor and his wife Kathryn Taylor will be hosting a coronation party in their garden, with plans to enjoy a picnic lunch and games with their neighbours.
All the avenue’s residents have been invited to the party, which will take place at 1pm on Sunday, May 7.
The avenue is often badly hit by floods when the river swells near Old Bridge in Hereford. Some residents have had to fork out thousands of pounds for flood defences, only for these to fail and force people out of their homes.

Mrs Taylor said that although the flooding has been “terrible”, it has brought the community together.
“Everybody knows everybody now,” she said. “I can’t walk down the avenue now without talking to everybody out there. It’s nice.”
Mr and Mrs Taylor decided to host the party as they have the biggest garden on the avenue. The festivities will take place in a marquee on their lawn, under the watchful eye of two life-size cut-outs of the king’s guards.
The party is by invitation only, with the Taylors using the coronation as an “excellent excuse” to get the community together.
King Charles will be crowned on Saturday, May 6, with celebrations and lunches taking place nationwide all weekend.
