TWO men have been fined by a court after cutting a hedge without permission in a Herefordshire village.

Jesse Lee and Richard Lee each entered a guilty plea to one count of engaging in an aggressive commercial practice as a trader when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in May.

The court heard from the prosecutor that 24-year-old Jesse Lee and 25-year-old Richard Lee had engaged in a commercial practice which was aggressive and significantly impaired or was likely to significantly impair the average consumer's freedom of choice in Whitchurch, Herefordshire, on August 4.

OTHER NEWS:

They had, with the intention of charging £200, started cutting a woman's hedge without permission and without concluding a contract which would require a 14-day cooling-off period.

They then failed to stop when asked to, the court heard.

The Lees, both of Darlingscote Road, Shipston-on-Stour, were each fined £200 for the offence, with magistrates saying they had taken their guilty pleas into account.

They were also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £200 and an £80 victim surcharge.
