The subsequent closure saw bus disruption in the city with the Country Bus Station being accessible. Herefordshire Council said that Yeomans buses that would normally start at the station would instead go from Maylords and terminate at the Shire Hall.
The railway station, meanwhile, was used for National Express coaches, with Lugg Valley operating a 76A, 426 and 492 from the station.
Traffic was also backed up the Station Approach link road, as well as on Aylestone Hill as motorists sought to divert around the closure.
Anyone who was in the area in the early hours of this morning and witnessed the incident is asked to contact Hereford CID 01432 347399 quoting reference 00033_I_08062023. Alternatively, information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
