HEREFORDSHIRE has certainly experienced the unpredictable British weather this week, with stormy downpours followed by a bask of sunshine.
Rumbles of thunder were heard in the county throughout yesterday afternoon (Monday) before the heavens opened during the evening rush-hour.
In south Hereford, Holme Lacy Road, near the Wye Inn, soon became flooded, while Ross Road, Hunderton Road and the Asda roundabout also had a lot of surface water.
"It was easily up to my knees by the bridge as I waded through it," said Nicola Jones. "Even the roads past the bridge were ankle deep in water."
Meanwhile, Walnut Tree Avenue - which links Ross Road and Belmont Road - was temporarily closed due to storm damage. As of today (Tuesday), a small area of the road is cordoned off, however vehicles can get around it.
Most of the wet weather happened on Monday, however some parts of the county was hit over the weekend, especially on the Worcestershire and Gloucestershire borders.
Cricket is traditionally a summer sport, however the players at Colwall were soon running for cover on Saturday as the heavens opened.
Today (Tuesday), the weather is much more settled, with plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies. However, you can see the after effects of the previous day's rain in the river Wye in Hereford, with a water a murky, brown colour.
Temperatures are currently in the high 20s, and it's forecast to remain hot for the rest of the week. However, spells of rain - which could be thundery at the time - could hit Herefordshire on Sunday (June 18) and into next week.
