A MAN caught with an offensive weapon in a Herefordshire village has been banned from drinking alcohol by a court.
Jamie Brooke appeared before magistrates in Hereford for sentencing in June after entering guilty pleas to one count of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and one count of being in charge of a vehicle while unfit through drink.
The court heard from prosecutor Mark Hambling that Brooke had been caught in possession of the weapon, a lock knife, in Church Road, Clehonger, on December 15.

The 32-year-old, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Marilena Di Vitantonio, was also in charge of a Vauxhall Vivaro van in the road while unfit through drink on the same date, the court heard.
Brooke, of Patterson Close, Madley, was handed a 12-month community order with a 60 day electronic tag monitored alcohol abstinence order. He was fined £120 and received 10 penalty points.
The lock knife was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed, and Brooke must pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £114 victim surcharge.
