MICHAEL Hayward, a member of our We Grew Up In Hereford group on Facebook, uncovered this wonderful picture of a darts outing from 1947.
The proud players were all members of the Cotterell Arms team. There is a boy in the picture proudly displaying the team's haul of trophies. Perhaps he was the son of one of the members.
There is also a woman in the picture – was she a player, or perhaps the pub landlady? Sitting second next left to her is Michael Hayward's dad, Les.
Sadly, the Cotterell Arms closed in 2014 and is now three terraced houses. It is another of the far-too-many backstreet pubs we have lost. With them have gone the darts teams and other social gatherings that helped bind our communities together. We really have lost so much.
We are keeping a record of Hereford's lost pubs here. But we need your help. Use the blue button below to tell us about a pub closure we have missed (no matter how long ago). If you know the date it shut and have a picture that would be all the better!
Tell us about a lost pub of Hereford we should add to our list
Is there a pub, now gone forever, that we have missed? Let us know. Say why you miss it and add a picture, if you wish.
