A HEREFORD nurse who lost 6st 12lbs was invited to the Houses of Parliament to talk to MPs about the inspirational weight loss journey which saw her transform her health.
Sarah Wynter, 40, dropped from 17st 4lbs to 10st 6lbs after joining her local Slimming World group and was invited as a special guest of Slimming World to a drop-in event for MPs in Westminster to hear more about the organisation’s evidence-based approach to healthy weight loss and to meet members and consultants who have turned their lives around by improving their health, fitness and wellbeing.
Sarah, an NHS nurse who works in the Intensive Therapy Unit at Wye Valley Trust, said: “I was delighted to be asked to come along to talk to politicians about how Slimming World has changed my life.”

Sir Bill Wiggin, MP for North Herefordshire, went along to the event to meet Sarah and consultant Jo Diggle, who runs the Slimming World group that Sarah attends each week.
“I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Sarah at the drop-in session in Parliament," said Sir Bill, "and it was inspiring to hear of her amazing journey. I congratulate her on this fantastic achievement, and I look forward to seeing the Slimming World on Referral scheme implemented in North Herefordshire.”
Sarah, who’s gone from a size 22 to a 10, adds: “It was great to be able to talk to Sir Bill and other guests about the support Slimming World gives to members to take those first crucial steps to a healthier lifestyle and make changes for life.”
Sarah, who lives with her husband Jon, 48, and children Alfie, 19 and Maisey, 15, joined Slimming World in January 2020, just before the first lockdown. She was extremely concerned about her chances of survival if she was to contract the virus as she knew that obesity was a contributing factor for many people who struggled with Covid. This harsh reality drove her motivation to keep going on her weight loss journey. “I’m (now) the best version of myself for my patients and for me and my family too. I’m living my best life and that’s an incredible feeling.”
