I TOTALLY concur with Michael Buffey’s recent letter regarding the disproportionate and outrageous sentence imposed on John Price for dredging the river Lugg through his farmland (Letters, July 13).

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
The Environment Agency should be ashamed of themselves and held to account for not dredging this and many other rivers and for allowing our river Wye and many others to become polluted by crude sewage and chicken waste.
The law is a complete nonsensical shambles where Mr Price is concerned. The EA should have been fined, not Mr Price.
